SEMA Show Review

As most people know, SEMA Show in Las Vegas is regarded as one of the best car shows in the world, showing off the latest tricks, latest crazes, latest cars etc...and being America they are always about a year or so infront of us with regards to modifying, so stepping off the Las Vegas Monorail and what are we greeted with, an R35 GTR sitting on 23" rims and looking stunning, not bad for the first car to see, it was at that point you knew that you would be in for a treat.

Obviously its mostly american cars, i mean walking along through the DUB Stand, which is pretty much covers all the entrance to the wheel & tyres hall, all you seen was Chrysler 300C's sitting on rims which were no smaller than 22" and as big as 28", Dodge Chargers sitting on 30's, Bentleys' on 28's, blah blah blah, oh and a Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead sitting on 28's, all of which had dishes that you could literally sleep in. Wheels are huge in the States, not just in size, but in general, so much that you are actually able to hire rims for a lot of cars.

So was it all about rims, holy shit no! Paint is the next thing that we were hit by, subtle seems to have been grabbed by the bollox, thrown around a few times, put in a nuclear powerstation and mutated into something lairy or bright or just plain crazy. Flames are massive out there and are done amazingly, but the airbrushing out there is in its own little world anyway and way ahead of us again, so much so, Airbrushed Etched Window anyone?

Next on the list was Bodykits...granted though when i say bodykits its mostly something completely custom, something done completely stupid, sometime to such a point that you have no idea as to what car it actually was, but serioulsy a complete work of art none the less. I mean seeing a Continental GT with a hell of a mean kit on, which is available off the shelf, was quite stunning in my eyes anyway.

As i was saying there were custom cars out there that you really had no idea what they were, any guesses on this one?

or even better this one, which truly was a work of art and flawless in every way, built by GAS (Pimp my Ride).

oh and a Yaris anyone?

Probably one of what i thought was the hottest cars out there, which was following on from last year was the Scion XB, they are everywhere and are awesome cars, they look mint pretty much standard in my opinion, but can look amazing when modified with a simple set of wheels, but some do go a bit far and then creat something different.

or my favourite, the roof chopped, HOK Kandy, Supercharged animal version

Audio didnt seem to be that much of a big thing out there this year to be fair, but true to form Alpine were there with their boat on display and the Sinister 6 both on display. The biggest display of Audio came from Arc Audio and Sony, both of which seem to be huge out there, or at least in SEMA anyway.

But it still never ceases to amaze me how much pride the americans actually put into the finer details of their cars, they really do think outside of the box. Now back home yeah you get some mental people who polish everything, even down to their exhausts etc...they then place mirrors underneath to show off how obsessive they are, but in typical american style, they have to go that one better even with that side of things. The details on this car were incredible, the time that must have gone into it and the money spent must have been huuuuge, but then why do that to what is now only ever going to be a model, it is amazing and stunning though!

The rest of the pics can be found either in the link that Julz has put up, although they do include some random vegas shots too, or there will be a link going up in the gallery very soon, with them all in there to look at.

But i cant really be arsed writing much more just now, apart from Pimp my Ride were doing a live show from there, in conjunction with Ford's new stuff, which included the all new Ford Flex, which looked a hell of a lot like a range rover.
West Coast Customs had "the experience" there again, where you could sign onto courses etc....as long as you had an american express - lol, but not a lot on their patch impressed me at all to be honest, they had one of Shaq's cars and a bentley GT that they had completely butchered by painting it all pink, even the rimz.
Hummers were still all the rage with a H2 and a H1, both on independent caterpillar tracks on each corner, and someone thought that owning a H2 on a set of 30's asnt enough, so he bought the spare 30" too.
House of Kolor were doing Free Scarab Tattoos, if you could beat the crowd off and actually book in.

And that was pretty much it all in a nut shell, well i thought i would just say that as to not make anyone else feel like shit - lmao.

If you ever get a chance to go there, especially at the end october and go for SEMA

........Finally DISH anyone???
